The Letter (1940)

"Mix me another one, Jerry" - Howard Joyce

Joyce orders two gin slings which are cocktails in and of themselves but since since this film is set in Singapore, we suggest the delicious and mysterious Singapore Sling for this noirish movie.

Singapore Sling

1½ oz Gin

½ Cherry Heering

½ Cointreau

½ fresh orange juice

½ fresh lemon juice

soda water

Shake first 5 ingredients with ice. Strain and pour into Collins glass with rocks. Add a splash of soda water to top off the glass and garnish with lemon and orange twists and Luxardo cherries. Serve with metal, paper or bamboo straw.

Note: The Singapore Sling was invented at The Long Bar in the Raffles Hotel in Singapore but because no one ever wrote down the recipe, there are numerous versions including the horrible one they now serve there...

This above recipe is our favorite.
