Mata Hari probably didn't deserve her reputation as a treacherous spy but her tale did inspire this soft, yet seductive cocktail.
1¼ oz cognac
1 oz chai-infused sweet vermouth (see below)
¾ oz Fresh lemon juice
½ oz Simple syrup (see Housemade Syrups)
¾ oz Pomegranate juice
Shake with ice, strain & pour, garnish with dried rose buds (available at tea shops and on-line.)
Chai-Infused Sweet Vermouth
2 cardamom pods
½ Cinnamon stick
1 tsp chopped ginger
½ tbsp Chai or black tea
2 cups Vermouth
Cook spices over med. heat for 2 min. Add tea, vermouth, bring to low boil for 2 min. Remove from heat, cool, strain, bottle.
